Oratorical Contest

Open to: Middle School and High School students
Date: March 12, 4:00 p.m.
Location: Summit High School
Topic for the 2018-19 school year is: “Is There a Fine Line Between Optimism and Reality?
How To Enter: Entry form - fill out and bring with you
Prepare a 4 to 5 minutes speech about topic: “Is There a Fine Line Between Optimism and Reality?”.Bring completed form with you.
No entry fee (just like all our Optimists' activities).
Who: Youth under the age of 19 as of October 1, 2018 (and is not enrolled as a degree seeking student of a post-secondary institution) in the United States, Canada or the Caribbean.
Evaluated criteria:
1. Poise – appearance and personality: 10 points
2. Content of Speech – subject adherence, theme, content, logic and color: 40 points
3. Delivery & Presentation – voice, volume, pronunciation, gestures, eye contact, sincerity and emphasis: 35points
4. Overall Effectiveness – appeal, impression, attitude and effect: 15 points

Winners will be presenting their winning entries March 19, 2010 at Community and Senior Center, Frisco. Be there at 7:30 a.m.

Summit Middle School, Community Service Recognition

was January 23rd. Optimists recognized 46 total 6th, 7th and 8th graders who contributed five or more documented hoursof community service. We celebrate this kids' exemplary efforts and contributions. Twice per year, Summit County Television tapes student interviews as the students share their experiences. For the past semester, Superintendent Kerry Buhler spoke with the students in these interviews:
